“The interplay of pressure, intensity and release is regulated by awareness”

Traditional Thai Massage has been described as “someone doing yoga for you.” It is a form of bodywork that works mainly through the release of tension and blockages along the meridians (energetic pathways in the body).  It also involves stretching and deep massage. The treatment is given on a mattress, on the floor rather than on a table. No oils are used and the client wears loose, comfortable clothing. Normally a Thai massage takes from 1.5 to 2 hours, though clients may request individualized sessions lasting up to 3 hours.

My style is a unique blend of northern and southern styles of Thai massage with a focus on a rhythmic palpation of acupuncture meridians and gentle stretching movements.  Both of these techniques are informed by my many years of training as both an acupuncturist and as a teacher of yoga. Usually, I also include other techniques such as joint release- a very relaxing method of resolving tension in the fascial layers- as well as tuina- Chinese therapeutic massage.
